Remembering The Past - Wilderness North

Celebrating 30 Years of Wilderness North  –

Remembering The Past

We Remember Them.

The photo above is from this past summer at Miminiska Lodge – Our 8th Project Healing Waters event for soliders from both Canada and U.S.  We call it “Healing on the Albany.”   Each year we invite wounded soldiers from both countries to be our guests for a healing retreat in Ontario’s cool green wilderness. And again in 2016, we will welcome back more of these courageous men and women. If you know a soldier who would benefit from our “Healing on the Albany”program, give us a call or send us an email; we can put you in touch with the organizers of the event.

We also remember that 40 years ago this week, the ore carrier The Edmund Fitzgearld sank on Lake Superior. Wilderness North Meteorologist Graham Saunders explains the science behind such a ferocious storm in a special podcast production which includes the haunting ballad commemorating the disaster.
