It's Not Over Yet! - Wilderness North

Celebrating 30 Years of Wilderness North  –

It’s Not Over Yet!

Fall has arrived and guests at Striker’s Point are enjoying some late season fishing. Since last week’s update, there already have been 2 reports of Master Angler close calls.  So far, two 38 inch pike were caught and released.  Jeff, a member of Roger’s party caught one his first day in camp and Bill’s party caught the shortly after arriving.

Jeff’s northern was caught with a Mann’s Super Stretch 1-minus in 7 ft of water while casting  over  deep cabbage  weeds in the east end of Caribou Bay. The fish was very healthy and full and put on a nice fight with several runs, including one under the boat. Unfortunately no pictures were taken. Most of the walleye were caught in 10-14 feet of water. Worms seem to be the bait of choice this week– the walleye are hitting them hard as they fatten up for the winter.

Tuesday’s lightning storm seemed to bring in the cooler weather, but the recent full moon conditions look promising for stirring up some wicked fishing action.

Stay tuned for more updates next week,
Striker’s Point Staff
