Let me talk a bit about Zig Zag for a moment. Here is an outpost destination that sells out year after year. When Justin Drljaca and Charles Droudes took it on they had NEVER seen the lake before. They immediately pushed into the heavy cover with heavy lures (actual muskie lures) and hit pay dirt. I asked them why they felt they had success in these very shallow (less than a foot) areas, with lots of weeds and lay downs…they said SLOW SLOW SLOW. The lesson here is simple. If you fish shallow and follow their lead, you will cast up as close to shore as possible…count to 10 slowly…and then and only then move the bait ever so slowly and stop. Count to ten …and move again. Bang there they are.
