Celebrating 30 Years of Wilderness North  –

Tackle Box Tips

Wilderness North gearI was just looking through the tackle box for this summer and noticed rust on the hooks that was not there last fall. Now I should have known better than to leave wet items in the trays over the winter – but as they say, “hindsight is 20-20.”  Now WD-40 has an answer for this problem, not only for your tackle box, but in gun cases, tool boxes and anything where metal stored. It’s called the 3-in-1 No Rust Shield, and you can learn more about it here.

Wilderness North gearLast month we had an article on insect repellent patches. Our guests wrote back with a 50/50 good/bad review of these products. We have since discovered another product for your consideration, from 3M. It is called ULTRATHON, and those guests who told us about it, say it is great. This link, can tell you more.

Wilderness North gearDid you know that those little containers of hand sanitizer offer a good way to start a fire? Since they are alcohol based they keep your hands clean with no water, and can also give you a great choice for a fire-starter in an emergency.

Wilderness North gearThere is one other product you may find handy in the tackle box.  It is called E Z Towel. Here is a compacted towel, about the size of 5 stacked nickels in its original form.  All you do is add water and watch it grow.  Simply unroll the E Z Towel and use it as you wish.  Opened up, the EZ Towel is 8 1/2″ X 9 1/2″ –Click here to learn more.

Wilderness North guide staffI will be calling all of our guests, with trips scheduled for our Housekeeping camps, and All-inclusive lodges starting this week. My first calls will be to those parties with trips for May and June. I look forward to chatting with you, and seeing many of you up at Striker’s Point Lodge this summer.
