Many people have reached out to us over the past week, we appreciate catching up with every one of you. Our connection goes beyond the obvious economic and service provider relationship, we have watched each other’s kids grow and weathered many storms. Together, we will weather these unprecedented times we’re facing.
Alan, Sierra and I are self-isolating at the McKenzie seaplane base. Megan is on her way back from Toronto and going to be “working from home” in Thunder Bay, on an adjusted work schedule in travel tourism. New realities for everyone. We are working from McKenzie for a few weeks while getting outdoors for exercise and mental health. We have always enjoyed our winters up north. As we are outdoors in the snow, sun and fresh air we realize, more than usual, it’s one of our fortunes.
A friend (and guest) recently emailed and commented on the border closure announcement, he joked that fishing is “essential travel”. We couldn’t agree more. Fishing is Essential! Right? His message was; “If the border is open, we’ll be coming”. We hope all of you continue to find humour while we navigate these turbulent waters.
We will stay in touch with weekly newsletters. Be assured, we will respond to our new reality with flexibility. We know your wilderness trips are rejuvenating and as important to you as they are to us. As you know, more than most, the wilderness is likely as secure of a place as anywhere to be right now. We will be implementing all the necessary procedures to ensure our wilderness lodges and outposts are the safest place to be this summer.
Whether it’s self-isolation or social distancing that is your new current reality, we wish you all health and wellbeing.
Krista & Alan
