Every experience starts and ends at Miminiska Lodge, the home base for your stay. From there, the choice is yours. Each 4 or 6 night stay includes one fly out trip plus three or five excursions based on your package:

DAY TRIP TO UPPER FALLS
Upper Falls finds brook trout just above the falls as well as both sides below. Fish from your drift boat amongst the boulders and deep runs down to Middle Falls and then down to Snake. Target every spring on the way down for chances to sight cast unsuspecting brook trout. This is a special place. Difficulty level *** (expect 3 portages and significant travel by boat)

FLY OUT TO THE FREESTONE RIVER OR COHEN RIVER
Hop aboard our de Havilland Beaver and experience a day floating in search of big brook trout. The Freestone River or the Cohen River are world class, highly coveted brook trout fisheries that harbour fantastic specimens.

FISH THE WEED EXPANSES OF PETAWANGA LAKE
Countless bays and beds hold large populations of voracious Northern Pike. Petawanga lake may see a handful of anglers per year. You can also combine Petawanga’s 8-10 weight pike fly rods with a 5-6 for brook trout on your journey. Difficulty level **(contains a 30 minute portage)

FERGUSON BAY
A short boat ride from the lodge finds you in the expansive Ferguson Bay home to some giant northern pike. Early season sight fishing or weed choked topwater explosions will have your heart in your throat all season long. Difficulty level *

CURRY BAY
Cut through the Honey Hole and hang a right to structure laden Curry Bay. Manoeuvre through boulder fields in search of Northern Pike laying in wait or weave your way through the weed beds casting to unsuspecting fish. Curry Bay is home to some definite monster pike and walleye. Difficulty *

WEST ARM
To the right of the Albany River and the infamous Walleye Mine lays Miminiska Lake’s West Arm. Rarely fished, West Arm is vast and varies in structure from shallow bays to deep troughs and is productive all season long for both Walleye and Pike. Difficulty *

I have been fishing Ogoki Lake for the past 40 years. When I was a young man my father took me to Ogoki. The year before my father passed away I had the privilege of taking him to Ogoki 25 years later. The tradition continues as I have taken my son to the same place every year since he was nine years old. My son will graduate from college this year. It is my belief, making wonderful memories is how life should be lived.

Their facilities and equipment are well kept, clean, and in great working order.  Their staff is friendly and courteous.  Most importantly the fishing is incredible!  A friend and I were talking in the boat one day, we came to the conclusion that a very small fraction of the population have been blessed to see and experience this wilderness area.

2014 will be our sixth year with Wilderness North, fifth at Dawn Lake.  Alan & Krista are great hosts.  They do their very best to make our trip safe & enjoyable.  Dawn Lake has unbelievable fishing.  In 2013, two of us caught 520 walleyes in 6 days.  In years past we caught 29 in. & 30 in. walleyes.  The cabin is rustic yet comfortable, the isolation is relaxing, the thunderstorms are beautiful, the silence is deafening.  If you want a fly-in outpost adventure, we recommend Wilderness North.
