THUNDER BAY The coldest temperature ever recorded was −43.2 °C (−45.8 °F) on 31 January 1996.— Even though Tuesday (FEB 15) was actually colder, the only weather record broken at Thunder Bay Airport during the recent cold snap was set on St Valentines’s Day.
Please note that, an even lower temperature was reached on this date more than a century ago in the former City of Port Arthur, where the federal government had weather monitoring equipment. Records show that in 1914, the temperature dropped to -38 C.

To quickly convert Celsius to Fahrenheit, multiply the temperature in degrees Celsius by 2, and then add 30 to get the (estimated) temperature in degrees Fahrenheit.
