And It's a Wrap! - Wilderness North

Celebrating 30 Years of Wilderness North  –

And It’s a Wrap!

2014 will go down in the record books as one of the coolest and wettest summers we have had in several years. Not only was there a lot of rain, but the winds and high water levels sometimes made fishing challenging. That being said, it certainly didn’t stop this year’s anglers as they headed out in search for their perfect catch.

We hosted many different groups this year. Families, groups of guys, corporate groups, and couples all made WN their choice for an outdoor vacation. All in search for an epic outdoor experience; whether it was the phenomenal fishing, the camaraderie between friends or just simply enjoying the wilderness throughout the summer. Alan and I were fortunate to spend some time up north at McKenzie and even up at some of the lodges. There’s nothing better than sharing a shore lunch with guests out on the lake and this year we were privileged to be able to do so.

We are pleased to welcome Valda Adams to our sales team this fall. She was our head chef at Makok and Mim this past season and will be bringing her years of experience in tourism to the team. She and Meryl will be busy touching base with our guests and filling up the lodges and outposts. Some weeks are already sold out at some of our locations. Anticipate hearing from the two of them in the near future.

We celebrated Canadian thanksgiving this past weekend. It is always a time for getting together with friends and family, and of course, eating. We make plans for the upcoming Christmas holidays and take some time to reflect on the successes of the summer.  This upcoming year is set to be an exciting one for Wilderness North and we can’t wait to share the changes that are to come. We are bringing D’Alton and Musgrave Lake Outposts back on line, as well as extending Miminiska’s season beginning next year in June. Recently, our construction team completed a renovation of Dawn Lake, including a new dock!  More dock talk, we completed the rather daunting task of redoing the Striker’s Point Lodge dock, which gave way in some powerful winds this past June.

Alan and I would like to thank all of our guests this season for helping make 2014 a great year. Whether you are a return guest or a first time visitor, we appreciate your business!

Look forward to seeing everyone in 2015,
